  • Cold Frame Farm is a USDA Certified Organic farm located in Romeo, Michigan. Currently with 3 acres in production, we grow top-quality vegetables, herbs and unique cut flowers for Detroit-area restaurants and florists. We also sell our organic crops directly to members of our community from our farm store, open each Friday and Saturday. We’re committed to regenerative farming practices that restore the landscape and foster a sustainable way of living. But most importantly, we work to contribute to the health and happiness of our neighbors and friends.

  • - has one season farming experience preferred, but not required

    - is hardworking, energetic, flexible and self-motivated

    - works quickly and efficiently with high attention to detail and quality control

    - can work long hours in all weather conditions (i.e. cold, wet, hot, humid) while maintaining a positive attitude

    - fast learner, asks questions and willing to accept feedback

    - can work individually and/or in a team environment

    - physically fit and able to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks (i.e. repetitive bending up and down, squatting, kneeling and standing) and must be able to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs

    - must be reliable and punctual

  • - cultivation of crops in the fields and hoop houses — including hand-weeding and hoeing

    - completing of a wide range of other fieldwork including, but not limited to, bed preparation, fertilizing, netting, trellising, mulching, pruning, irrigation setup, and pest/disease management

    - cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment

    - working alongside harvest crew members as needed to harvest crops using proper harvest techniques and post-harvest treatments

  • Work for this position begins in April and runs through the end of October, possibly into November. This position could be part-time or full-time, depending on candidate availability. Our weeks typically run Monday through Friday, but we are willing to work out a unique schedule with candidates who are only available on select days of the week. The daily schedule is dictated by weather conditions and the needs of the farm, so some flexibility is required. Generally, workdays begin at 7/8:00am and end at 3/4:00pm depending on the urgency of tasks to be completed. Daily schedules include half-hour unpaid lunch and 15-minute breaks.

  • Dependent on experience. Competitive rates. Year-end performance-based bonus for those who stay with us for the duration of the season. No housing is provided for this position.
